Ellen: Yes, I have seen him in most- I mean, I know you worked since you were six, so I’m not gonna say that I’ve seen all your work, but I was a huge fan of Joe’s and I have so much respect for Joe. Sorry, this is embarrassing and annoying-
Joe: [laughs] Thank you.
Ellen: It’s good for him to hear. And for his integrity and the choices he’s made, his clear passion - and ultimately when I watch Joe’s performance, I’m not watching it going, “Look, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s good in this movie.” I’m completely absorbed because I don’t feel Joe’s ego. I don’t feel like I’m watching Joe act. He seamlessly disappears, which I don’t think all actors can do. It’s beautiful to watch and I want to work with him more. And hopefully that will happen.
Joe: Likewise! [Ellen laughs] It’ll definitely happen. One of the producers of Mysterious Skin worked on Hard Candy so I knew Ellen’s work before she became so known for Juno. And when Juno happened, I was like, “Yup, awesome, a great actress is getting her due.” She’s such an honest actress and I think that’s evident in both like Juno where she took a stylized dialogue but made it feel just… real. The same goes for Inception where she’s in the midst of these sort of fantastic situations but always makes it feel like it’s really happening. I admire that so much. [funny voice] It’s a pleasure to work with ya! Let’s do it again, pal! (via)I’m not going to be one of those people who are like ~omg I liked them before you~ but I have loved both of them for so long (because there might have been a time where I liked Twilight before the movies came out and I chose them as my Jacob and Bella, and yes I did like Juno, idgaf) and to see them in such a wonderful movie together and genuinely appreciate each other warms my heart, you guys. I never thought they’d star in something together like say, my favorite movie this year, and now they are such good friends! JOE SMILING THE ENTIRE TIME KILLS ME, I love how he takes compliments. He is a normal human being who shows his emotions and says thank you every time. They are so talented and kind. I wish Hollywood were made up of more of them.
